Athlete Spotlight: Aislinn Bennett

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Landyn Greatorex (Jr., F, Reading, Mass.) -- Greatorex was named MASCAC Player of the Week after producing six points with four goals and two assists in a 2-0 week for the Vikings. He posted a hat-trick to go with an assist in a 5-2 come-from-behind victory over Anna Maria and had a goal and assist in a 6-4 triumph over Worcester State.

James Tatro (Fr., F, Salisbury, Mass.) -- Tatro picked up back-to-back MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors after tallying six points on three goals and three assists in a 2-0 week for the Vikings. Had a goal and two assists in a 5-2 victory over Anna Maria and scored a pair of goals, including a game-winner to go with an assist as Salem State got past Worcester State, 6-4.

Keagan O’Donoghue (Gr., F, Frisco, Texas) -- O’Donoghue picked up MASCAC Player of the Week honors after he scored six points this week on three goals and three assists, including the 100th for his career, as the Vikings went 3-0 on the week. Had a pair of assists in a 6-2 win over UMass Dartmouth and had two scores including the milestone goal with an assist as the Vikings held off Westfield State 5-3. He also added a goal in a 3-2 victory over Framingham State.

James Tatro (Fr., F, Salisbury, Mass.) -- Tatro was named MASCAC Rookie of the Week for the third time this season after recording four points on three goals and an assist in a 3-0 week for the Vikings. Had two goals in a 6-2 win over UMass Dartmouth and compiled a goal and an assist in a 5-3 win over Westfield State.

Jarnel Snow-Guzman (Sr., G, Lynn, Mass.) -- Snow came off the bench to lead the Vikings to a 91-75 victory over Framingham State on Saturday. The guard scored 22 points on an efficient 77.8% shooting (7-9), with 18 of those points coming from beyond the arc (6-8 3PT). His three consecutive triples in the second half on Saturday helped push the Vikings to their largest lead of 29 points in the game.

Liz Zaiter (Gr., F, Peabody, Mass.) -- Zaiter led the Vikings to a 1-1 week, averaging 14.5 points on 43.8% shooting (14-32 FG), 9.5 rebounds, and two blocks. Scored 11 points on 5 of 13 shooting, along with nine rebounds and three blocks, in her team’s 73-55 victory over Lesley. She followed up with an 18-point (9-19 FG), 10-rebound double-double in a loss to Framingham State on Saturday. 

Ernidia Goncalves (Jr., F, Everett, Mass.) -- Goncalves averaged a double-double, posting 16 points on 43.3% shooting (13-30), along with 19.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals in a 1-1 week for the Vikings. In her team’s first win over Westfield in 10 years, 71-57, she scored 18 points on 7-of-16 shooting, pulled down 19 rebounds, and added four steals. Grabbed 20 rebounds and scored 14 points (6-14), including her 1,000th career point, in the 68-56 setback to Bridgewater State. Currently third in DIII in total rebounds and double-doubles on the season with 15.

Omri Merryman (So., G/F, Lynn, Mass.) -- Merryman was named MASCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 25.5 points, shooting 50% (16-32) from the field, 43.8% (7-16) from beyond the arc, and 80% (12-15) from the free-throw line, while also grabbing 7.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Vikings. The sophomore scored 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including 3-of-6 from three, and pulled down nine rebounds in a setback to Westfield State. He then followed up with a 30-point performance on 9-of-18 shooting, along with six rebounds, in a 74-69 win over Bridgewater State.

Ernidia Goncalves (Jr., F, Everett, Mass.) -- Goncalves was named MASCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week after continuing her dominant play in a 2-0 week for the Vikings, averaging a double-double with 17 points on 53.6% shooting (15-28 FG) and 15.5 rebounds. The junior posted 16 points (6-13 FG), 14 rebounds, and three blocks in a 69-56 victory over Worcester State, then followed it up with an 18-point (9-15 FG), 17-rebound performance in a 77-60 win over Fitchburg State.

Landyn Greatorex (Jr., F, Reading, Mass.) -- Greatorex scored a pair of goals and added two assists for four points in a 2-0 week for the Vikings. Notched an assist in a 9-3 win over Worcester State and netted two goals, including the game-winner to go with an assist in a 3-2 victory over MCLA.

Nicholas Martinez (So., G, Revere, Mass.) -- Averaged 18 points on 56.7% shooting (17-30), along with four assists and 3.5 steals during a 1-1 week for the Vikings. The sophomore scored 14 points on 7 of 12 shooting, to go with five assists, in a loss to Framingham. He then followed up with a game-high 22 points (10-18 FG), six steals, and three assists in a victory over MCLA.

Ginger Osgood (Fr., F, Saunderstown, R.I.) -- Osgood scored the game-winner with a third period goal in Salem State's 1-0 victory over Southern Maine.

Kylie Gates (Sr., G, Pembroke, Mass.) -- Gates was named MASCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the second straight time after averaging 20.5 points, shooting 53.1% (17-32 FG) from the field and 57.1% (4-7) from beyond the arc, along with eight assists, 6.5 rebounds, and three steals in a 1-1 week for the Vikings. The senior guard had an efficient 23-point performance, shooting 9 of 11 from the field and a perfect 4 of 4 from three-point range, to go along with eight assists and three rebounds in the 90-79 win over MASCAC rival Bridgewater State. Additionally, Gates fourth three in the final minute of the game marked her 1,000th career point. She then followed up with a near triple-double performance on Saturday, posting 18 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists in the setback to Husson.

Tyrese Rho (Jr., G, Boston, Mass.) -- Rho guided the Vikings to a 102-79 victory over Bridgewater State, exploding for an efficient 29 points on 83.3% shooting (10-12 FG). The junior guard also contributed five assists and four steals in the win.

Kylie Gates (Sr., G, Pembroke, Mass.) -- Gates was named MASCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 21.5 points on 58.8% shooting (16-27 FG), along with 5.5 assists, five rebounds, and 3.5 steals during a 2-0 week for the Vikings. Scored 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting, with four rebounds and four assists in the Vikings’ 64-43 victory over Lasell. She then followed up with an efficient 26-point performance (10-14 FG), adding seven assists, six rebounds, and five steals in her the 79-65 win over Thomas.
