Salem, Mass. –- Siobhan Smith scored three goals and added an assist and Laura Young notched three goals and two assists as Salem State easily defeated Mitchell, 16-1 on Thursday, at Alumni Field. The Vikings go to 7-2 on the season while the Mariners slide to 1-4.
How it Happened
- Salem State scored nine unanswered first period goals led by Smith, Megan Parthum and Olivia Tednes, who had two scores apiece.
- The Vikings continued their run into the second quarter as Kaylee Rich's goal with 4:54 left made the score 12-0. Chloe Jennings ended the shutout with a goal for Mitchell with :38 seconds remaining.
- Young and Turcotte extended the lead to 14-1 with third period goals.
- Young and Smith each recorded their third goals of teh game in the fourth quarter, making the final 16-1.
- Nora Bradley (7-2) made three saves in the win before giving way to Sami Jaworski in the fourth, who made one stop.
- Arrianna Stark (0-2) took the loss making a save.
- The Vikings held a 24-6 advantage in shots.
