Bears Prevail 16-4 Over Vikings

SALEM, Mass. –- Meredith Sylvia tallied seven goals and Riley Bina added three scores and an assist to propel Bridgewater State to a 16-4 victory over Salem State on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field. The Bears go to 11-3 and 3-1 in the MASCAC while the Vikings slip to 8-5 and 0-2 in conference.
Ashley Silva had two goals and an assist while Camryn Gonsalves added a goal to go with four assists for Bridgewater State. Laura Young had a goal and an assist for Salem State.
How it Happened:
- Young scored the first goal of the game for the Vikings, before the Bears reeled off six straight scores with Sylvia scoring two of the goals for a 6-1 Bridgewater State lead with 1:50 remaining in the first.
- Sylvia accounted for all three second period goals as the Bears took a 9-2 lead into halftime.
- Bina made it 10-2 at 14:31 of the third before Parthum broke the string with a man-up score for Salem State. The Bears closed the quarter with 5-0 run as five different players found the back of the net.
- Sylvia made it 16-3 late in the fourth before Rich closed the scoring with a free position goal for the Vikings with 2:18 left.
- Sara Skaff (10-3) earned the win in net making five saves. Gianna Scarpelli closed out the game for Bridgewater State in net in the final quarter.
- Nora Bradley (8-5) stopped 16 shots for Salem State.
Salem State hosts Worcester State this Saturday, April 19 @ 12:00 pm.
