| Women's Basketball Milestones: |
| 1898 - Women's basketball, the first organized team sport at Salem Normal School is founded. The sport, which was first played at Smith College in 1892 called for five players, but by the turn of the 20th century, the Salem Normal School team consisted of nine players (three forwards, three guards, and three centers. | 2005/2006 - Lindsay Watkins scores 25 points and adds 11 rebounds as Salem State upsets top-ranked Southern Maine 71-61 at home on December 17th. Behind All-American center Estrella Kuilan, women's basketball wins their 14th straight MASCAC post-season championship and makes a then record 23rd national tournament appearance. |

1980 - Sue Rizzotti becomes first Lady Vikings basketball player to top the 1,000 career point mark. |
2007 - On November 29th, Salem State women's basketball head coach Tim Shea achieves his 600th collegiate career coaching victory when the Lady Vikings defeat Plymouth State, 65-33. |

1983 - Salem State women's basketball team makes first NCAA Division III tournament appearance. The No. 4 seed Lady Vikings defeat No. 1 seed Eastern Connecticut State, 59-58, when Marydolores Brown, Salem State's first Academic All-American scores on a put-back at the buzzer to stun the Warriors in first round of Northeast Regional held at Willimantic, CT. |
2008 - MASCAC Player of the Year selection Danielle Jenkins scores her 1,000th career point in the first half of the Vikings' win against Endicott on Jan. 7. Jenkins finishes her career second all-time on Salem State's all-time scoring list with 1,650 points. The Lady Vikings (21-6) make the program's 24th NCAA Division III Tournament appearance, receiving an at-large bid to play the Saints of Marymount (VA) University (23-5) in a first round game Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. |
| 1984 - Behind ECAC/MASCAC Player of the Year Evelyn Oquendo, the Lady Vikings women's basketball reaches their first-ever NCAA Division III Final Four. The Lady Vikings win a school-record 24 straight games before bowing to Elizabethtown in the "Final Four", which was hosted by the University of Scranton. Salem State rebounds and defeats North Central College of Illinois, 90-85 in the consolation game. Oquendo, who would become Salem State's all-time leading scorer, was voted runner-up in the DIII National Player of the Year balloting. | 2011 - Head coach Tim Shea retires after 30 seasons. Shea ends his career with 649 wins, which at the time places him third all-time amongst Division III head coaches. Shea, who won national coach of the year honors in 1986 after leading the Lady Vikings to the national title, won 22 regular season and 16 post-season MASCAC championships during his tenure. Shea was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002. |
| 1985 - Vikings reach "Elite Eight" for second year in a row, losing 85-59 to eventual national champion, University of Scranton in the quarterfinals. | 2014 - Junior Rachael Carter sets the new women's basketball season points record, scoring 583 to pass Estrella Kuilan who scored 507 in 2006. Carter also notches her 1,000 point career point in a 71-61 win over MCLA in January 28th. |
| 1986 - Three-time All American guard, and New England Player of the Year Evelyn Oquendo, leads Salem State past Bishop College of Dallas, Texas, 89-85 to win NCAA Division III title March 15 at the O'Keefe Center. Salem State finishes with a program best 29-1 record. The Vikings overcome an early 12-point deficit to earn the school's first national championship. Mary Dolores Brown, National Championship team captain and Kodak All American, is named Salem State's first CoSida Academic All American. | 2015 - Senior Rachael Carter nets 27 points in a MASCAC Quarterfinal loss to Worcester State. Carter finishes her career second on Salem State's all-time scoring list with 1,719 points. |
| 1988 - Salem State posts first-ever unbeaten MASCAC record (12-0) and goes 25-3 to reach the NCAA Northeast title game for the fifth time in six seasons. | 2017 - Junior Norma Waggett eclipses the school record for points in a game with 44 in a game at Westfield State. |
| 1995 - Lady Vikings make third NCAA Final Four appearance. Salem State finishes fourth at Columbus, OH. (Capital University) | 2018 - Senior Kia Fernandes surpasses the 1,000 career points mark against Emmanuel College. |
| 1996 - Salem State goes 25-4 to and makes back-to-back appearances in the "Sweet 16." | |
| 1997 - Terri Niles breaks record for points in a game by scoring 40, including a school-record 11, three-pointers, in a victory over Fitchburg State on February 11th. Niles would tie the school mark a year later, also against the Falcons. | |
| 1999 - Missy Smock hits 10-of-16 three-point attempts in two sectional games, which includes a 76-60 win at Williams that ends the Eph's 23-game home winning streak to send Salem State to their fourth Final Four. The Lady Vikings defeat Scranton, 75-65 in the third place game in Danbury, CT. | |
| 2002 - Tim Shea, head women's basketball coach at Salem State College, earns his 500th victory with a 77-49 win over Bridgewater State College on January 30th.. |
