Salem State Stuns #10 Endicott in Overtime

BEVERLY, Mass.  --  Mitch Wilkie scored 3:06 into overtime to lead Salem State to an exciting 4-3 victory over #10 Endicott on Tuesday evening at Raymond J. Bourque Arena. The Vikings, who have won four-of-their-past five games up their record to 5-4. The Gulls go to 8-4.

Salem State won their second overtime game in a row, overcoming a third period rally by Endicott that saw the Gulls erase a 3-0 deficit.  

How it Happened:

  • Keagan O'Donoghue spotted Salem State a 1-0 lead 8:08 into the first period.
  • Zach Dill added a power play goal later in the opening period as the Vikings took a 2-0 lead into the second.
  • Landyn Greatorex, who leads the Vikings with 12 points, scored the second power play goal of the evening in the second for Salem State, which led 3-0 going into the third.
  • Primo Self got Endicott on the board in the third, scoring the first of three unanswered goals at 09:39
  • Jack Costanzo scored just over a minute later and Ryan Willett added a power play goal at 15:49, sending the game into overtime.
  • However, Mitch Wilkie scored the game-winner off a feed from Zach Dill, completing the upset bid.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Will Nepveu (4-3) earned the win in net, setting a new SSU single game saves record in the process with 65. 
  • Atticus Kelly (5-2) took the loss making 18 saves in just over two periods of work after replacing starter Ryan Wilson - 10 saves.
  • Greatorex, who finished with a goal and two assists, has tallied a point in six straight games.
  • Dill finished with a goal and two assists while O'Donoghue added an assist to go with a goal.
  • Salem State snapped an 11-game losing streak to the Gulls dating back to 2015.
