MASCAC SAAC Hosts Special Olympics & Children's Book Signing Event

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The past Sunday, March 2, MASCAC SAAC paired with Special Olympics & hosted a children's book signing event at Worcester State University. Salem State women's volleyball players and SAAC members Celia Carbone and Maya Lily Dunn represented the Vikings at the event.

Said Carbone, "This year's MASCAC SAAC Community Service event was truly special as it crossed the bridge of inclusivity between both athletics and academia. Worcester State hosted Special Olympics Mass., where Special Olympians of all ages had the opportunity to participate on a team in a basketball clinic. Helping to foster a positive environment for these athletes to smile, laugh, and compete was truly special. Not only this, but the MASCAC community was able to collect hundreds of children's books to donate to local communities in each school's location. The book drive mission provided a diverse range of children's novels with unique inspirational messages written inside by MASCAC student athletes. The event was a huge success, leaving all participants and volunteers feeling empowered. We had an amazing time connecting with students from other schools as well as the Olympians and were honored to be a part of it!"
