Gordon Wins 3-0 Over Salem State

WENHAM, Mass. -- Gordon cruised to a 3-0 victory over Salem State in women's volleyball action at Bennett Athletic Center on Wednesday. The Fighting Scots won 25-12, 25-14, and 25-22 to improve to 6-1 on the season. The Vikings are now 3-2.

Celia Carbone contributed 12 assists and eight digs for Salem State while Gracie Dailey and Abigail O'Connor combined for eight kills, five digs and a pair of blocks. The Vikings struggled to find an offensive ryhtm in the first two sets, hitting .250 while compiling only 10 kills. Teagan Brideweser broke open the first set for Gordon with four consecutive service aces allowing the Fighting Scots to take a 19-10 lead. Gordon scored nine of the final 11 points to take set one. Trailing 8-7 in set two, the Fighting Scots went on an 12-1 run to take a 19-9 lead. Olivia Fleming, Evey Hansen and Annie Zimmerman each had two kills  during the run.

Tied 10-10 in the third set, once again Gordon took advantage of multiple errors by the Vikings to pull in front 15-10. Salem State came back however, and pulled to within two following back-to-back misplays by the Fighting Scots. A bad set by Gordon gave Salem State a 22-21 advantage, but a kill and two aces by Zimmerman and consecutive kills by Joey Keltner gave the set and match to the Fighting Scots.  

Annie Murphy finished with 10 kills and 2 blocks for the Fighting Scots. Fleming had a match-high 19 assists and Alexa Quinones had eight digs.
