Vikings Dismantle Lynx 3-0

Salem, Mass. -- Salem State easily dispatched Lesley in three sets on Friday evening, 25-4, 25-8 and 25-4 to improve to 4-8 on the season. Lesley remains winless at 0-11.

The Vikings had their highest hitting percentage of the year, hitting .600 twice in three sets, while not committing an error. The team racked up a season-high 35 aces, led by Kailey Roche's 15. A kill by Presley Shairs gave Salem State a 9-1 lead in the first set. Six aces by Shairs helped extend the lead to 23-3 before the Vikings won 25-4.

Salem State went on a 15-5 run in set two to take a commanding 16-7 lead. The Vikings coasted in the stretch, allowing just one point by the Lynx as back-to-back aces by Roche sealed the win.

The Vikings held Lesley without a point to open set three, building a 12-0 lead as Roche registered 12 aces during the run. The lead grew to 15 at its highest as Salem State held the Lynx to just four points in the final set.

Shairs led Salem State with four kills, eight aces and a pair of blocks. Roche added a team-leading seven assists and two digs.

Cristina Ruiz topped Lelsey with four digs while Emma Welch and Marrin Gorgone each registered two kills.
