NEW LONDON, N.H. – Salem State took on Colby Sawyer and Northern Vermont-Johnson in a tri-match hosted by the Chargers on Saturday at the Hogan Sports Center. Colby Sawyer won the first match in three sets (25-12, 25-18 and 25-22) before the the Badgers defeated the Vikings (25-11, 25-23 and 25-21).
The Chargers raced out to an 18-9 set one lead as Mia Harmon and Makaila Blinne combined for eight kills. An ace by Brooke Patnode cemented the 25-12 victory. Colby Sawyer held Salem State to -.036 hitting in the second set, building a 22-17 lead. Two kills by Blinne and back-to-back errors by Salem State. Salem State battled back in set three, taking 20-18 lead following a ace by Kailey Roche. However, the Chargers battled back, tyin the set at 22-all before scoring the final three points to win the set and match.
Abigail O'Connor led Salem State with four kills Eva Haralabatos notched a team-best eight assists and eight digs. Haralabatos had 16 assists, five digs and three aces against the Badgers while Kayla Sullivan led Salem State with six kills.
