UMass Boston Defeats Salem State 8-1

SALEM, Mass. -- UMass Boston swept all six singles matches to ride to an 8-1 win over Salem State in a Little East Conference match at The Central Campus Tennis on Thursday afternoon that was originally scheduled for September 21, but moved due to weather. The Beacons remain unbeaten in LEC play at 7-0 and reach double digits in wins, moving to 10-2 on the season. The Vikings are now 7-4 and 4-3 in the LEC.
Scarlet Chatham / Alanna Zaldivar notched the only point for Salem State, defeating Kaya Rutkowski / Kayla Calderone, 8-7(8-6) in a tie-breaker at No. 3 doubles. Zainab Patel / Lydia Chan beat Madison Sartori / Kenzie McLaren, 8-2 at No. 1 doubles and Sandra Watson / Tatiana Malone blanked Abigail Laliberte / Erin Curristin, 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Patel and Chan also grabbed straight set shutouts at No. 1 and No. 2 singles while Ayonna Stuppard got past Laliberte, 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.
