Vikings Win Third Straight

SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State picked up their third straight win, defeating Western Connecticut, 5-4 in the Little East opener for both schools on Saturday afternoon at The Central Campus Tennis Courts. Erin Curristin's No. 5 singles victory, 6-4, 6-3 over Brooke Stillman clinched the match for the Vikings, who are now 3-1, 1-0 on the year. The Wolves go to 2-2, 0-1.
Salem State surged ahead with a strong effort in doubles, sweeping all three matches in building a 3-0 lead. Madison Sartori / Kenzie McLaren defeated Diana Rebelo / Melanie Grasso, 8-1 at No. 1 doubles while Abigail Laliberte / Erin Curristin beat Sarah Cipriano / Sophie Charbonneau, 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. Ryann Tripp / Alanna Bonneau earned the third Salem State point with an 8-6 win against Stillman / Jessica Nyitrai at No. 3 doubles.
Sartori earned her second win of the season at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-4 over Grasso for the Vikings's other point as Western Connecticut took four-out-of-six in singles play.
