MILTON, Mass.- Salem State suffered their first defeat of the year 6-3 at the hands of a highly competitive Eastern Nazarene team. Meredith MacDonald (Lynn, Mass.) / Kristin Klimowicz (Ipswich, Mass.) earned the only point in doubles for the Vikings (1-1), as they defeated Veronica Jimenez (Lynn, Mass.) / Alecia Tubbs (Rochester, N.Y.), 8-4 at third doubles. Jenna Jarman (Auburn, N.Y.) / Madeline Allaire (Columbus, Ohio) lost a tough, closely played set at first doubles, 9-8 to Adele Duval (Redding, Calif.) / Emily Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany).  

Sharon Biondi (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Ruttkowski won in straight sets at first and second singles for the Lions (3-0). Jarman pulled out a straight set shutout, 6-0, 6-0 of Veronica Jimenez (Lynn, Mass.) at fourth singles while Klimowicz beat Annelise Sherrill (Elk Grove, Calif.), 6-0, 7-5 at sixth singles for Salem State's two singles wins.
