Paquette/Durkin Earn All-MASCAC Honors

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Senior midfielder Brenna Paquette (Hudson, N.H.) and senior defenseman Sydney Durkin (Dracut, Mass.) were both named to the 2024 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Soccer Team in an announcement by the league Wednesday. Paquette earns her second straight first team selection while Durkin was named to the second team for the second straight year. 

Paquette started in 16 games this season for the Salem State, where she led the Vikings in goals - four and points - eight. She netted a pair of goals to help Salem State earn a 2-2 draw against Framingham State. Durkin notched four assists in 17 starts for Salem State in 2024, while spearheading a defense that posted five shutouts and allowed just one goal or fewer in ten games this season.  

Delaney Parker of Westfield State and Sydney Dewhurst of Bridgewater State have earned the 2024 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year honors. Parker, a senior from Orange, Mass., earns her second straight MASCAC Offensive Player of the Year honors and third all-time during her tenure with the Owls. This season, Parker led the conference in goals scored with 21 and points at 48. She also tallied six assists while draining four game-winners. Parker etched her name in the Westfield State record book as the all-time leading scorer with 87 goals, 34 assists and 208 career points while earning a spot on the All-Conference team all four years.

Dewhurst, a senior from E. Bridgewater, Mass., was a crucial part of the Bears' defense that saw them repeat as MASCAC Regular Season Champions. During the regular season, the Bears recorded six shutouts, four coming against MASCAC teams while allowing just three goals against conference competition. Offensively, she recorded 11 goals and 10 assists for 32 points, all in the top three of the MASCAC.

Joining Parker and Dewhurst as a major award winner is Kylie Tomasetti of Westfield State. The freshman defender from Northborough, Mass., had a solid first season with the Owls, scoring four goals and tallying four assists for 12 points while starting in 20 games this season. She also helped the Owls hold opponents to a .121 shooting percentage and only 26 goals on the year.

After guiding Bridgewater State to a 6-0-1 record and the top seed in the MASCAC Tournament, Yasmina Carvalho was voted the 2024 BSN Sports Coach of the Year for the second straight time.

Sitting on the MASCAC First Team with Parker and Dewhurst are Bailey Brown, Logan Levesque, Olivia Robarge and Jenna Sweeney of Bridgewater State, Taylor Blanton of Mass. Maritime, Paquette of Salem State, Morgan Berthiaume, Jaida Cochran and Kiana Muratsuka of Westfield State.

Earning a spot on the 2024 MASCAC Second Team with Tomasetti are Makenna Lessard and Emily McCormack of Bridgewater State, Stella Liebler, Taylor Senecal and Adrianna Westcott of Fitchburg State, Durkin of Salem State, Amanda Cosco, Julianne Earnest, Ella Gumienny and Ella Tatarczuk of Worcester State.
