PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Salem State women's soccer traveled to Plymouth State University this afternoon to wrap up their non-conference schedule against the Panthers. A trio of goals in each half propelled the Panthers to the 6-2 victory over the Vikings, dropping Salem's record to 4-9-3 for the season.
How it Happened:
- Ella Fraser (Nottingham, N.H.) quickly put Plymouth State on the scoreboard, as the sophomore scored two goals within the first seven minutes to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead.
- Samarah Paiva (Revere, Mass.) narrowed the Panthers' lead at the 29-minute mark, when she dribbled through Plymouth's defense and fired the ball into the top of the net, marking her first goal of the season and the Vikings' first goal of the game.
- Less than 10 minutes later, the Panthers scored again, restoring their two-goal lead and giving them a 3-1 advantage at the half.
- The Panthers extended their lead to three goals in the opening minutes of the second half. However, McKenna Gilligan (Salem, Mass.) answered by lacing the ball into the right corner of the net to bring the score to 4-2 with 38 minutes remaining.
- The remainder of the half belonged to the Panthers, with Fraser completing her hat trick in the 65th minute before her teammate added the final tally in the 85th minute to seal Plymouth's 6-2 victory over the Vikings.
Inside the Numbers:
- Samarah Pavia's goal this afternoon was the first in her young career as a Viking.
- Scoring two goals tonight, the Vikings recorded their fifth multi-goal game of the season.
- Lauren Wilson (Lynn, Mass.) made a career-high five saves in 37 minutes of action this afternoon.
