Vikings Fall in Season Finale

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Salem State women's soccer traveled to Westfield, Massachusetts for their regular season finale to take on the Owls of Westfield State University. The top-ranked Owls took the 6-0 victory over the Vikings to drop their record to 4-11-2 before entering the postseason.

Lily Pfefferle (St. Paul, Minn.) turned away the Owls first six shots on goal before Tia Tollis (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was able to sneak one past her in the twenty-seventh minute to give Westfield State the early 1-0 lead. Five minutes later the Owls were able to capitalize after a corner kick opportunity led to a Delaney Parker (Orange, Mass.) goal, making it a two-goal game (2-0). The Owls would add another goal to their tally in the closing minutes of the half to send the game into the break with Westfield State ahead 3-0.

Parker and Tollis wasted no time notching their second goals of the game scoring in the forty-fifth and forty-ninth minute, respectively, to increase the Owls lead to five (5-0). Westfield would notch another goal in the fiftieth minute of the game to make it a six-goal deficit, which would hold for the remainder of the game to solidify the 6-0 victory over the Vikings.
