Falcons Slip Past Salem State 3-2

FITCHBURG, Mass. -- Patricia Pallotta (Sterling, Mass.) notched the game-winner in the 67th minute for Fitchburg State as the Falcons defeated the Vikings of Salem State, 3-2 in a hard-fought battle in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action.

Just four minutes into the match the Vikings took an early 1-0 lead. Senior Jill Tramondozzi (Malden, Mass.) delivered a 30-yard pass to junior Brenna Paquette (Hudson, Mass.) who tucked the goal past the Falcons' netminder.

The Falcons netted the equalizer at 10:31 when senior Taylor Rodriguez (Lunenburg, Mass.)  found Adrianna Westcott (Sayreville, NJ) inside the far post for the rookie's fifth score of the season. Fitchburg State broke the deadlock midway through the frame. Junior Elizabeth Read (Fitchburg, Mass.) took a pass from newcomer Alisha Praileau (Ashby, Mass.) and potted the goal in the upper corner.

Salem State countered with a goal from junior Macy Hudzik (Dracut, Mass.) to knot the game at 2-2 heading to intermission.

The game remained tied unti Pallotta laced a ball from 30-yards out into the back of the net for the 3-2 victory.

Skyla Vaudo (Burlington, Mass.) made 10 saves for the Falcons' win. Kelsey Francis (Peabody, Mass.) had 10 stops in the setback for the Vikings.
