Paquette Notches Game-Winner in 1-0 Win Over Buccaneers

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- Brenna Paquette scored just over three minutes into the game, which proved to be the game-winner, as Salem State edged Mass Maritime 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium. The Vikings win their second straight after starting 0-5 and even their record in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play at 1-1. The Buccaneers are 0-4 and 0-2 in the MASCAC.  

Paquette took a pass from Cassandra Harrington in the 3rd minute and beat keeper Brady Deschamps for the game's lone goal. Salem State held a decisive 13-4 margin in shots in the first half. The Vikings limited Mass Maritime to just two shots on net in the second half as goalie Lily Pfefferle made just four saves to earn the shutout. 

The Buccaneers took 11 shots in the game, four on target. Ally Reddish took three shots in the game, nand nearly had a game-tying header late in the game. 

Deschamps made 14 saves for Mass Maritime in the loss.
