Moran Nets Game-Winner in Overtime

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.- Salem State's Jasmine Moran scored the games only goal of the game in overtime to lift the visiting Vikings to a hard fought 1-0 win over MCLA at Shewcraft Field this afternoon.  With the win, the Vikings improve to 4-10 overall, but are now 3-2 in conference play.  MCLA falls to 0-11-1 and is 0-5-1 in the league.

Both teams had some quality chances throughout the game but nobody could find the back of the net.  In the opening half, MCLA's Claudia Bresett ripped a shot that went just high while Salem's Moran and Allie Vaillancourt also had good looks.  At halftime, the game remained scoreless even though the Vikings held a 9-3 shot edge.

The second half was more of the same, but both keepers, MCLA's Mady Breese and Salem's Lily Pfefferle, each kept the zeroes on the board.

In overtime, Moran finally slipped one past the MCLA defense.  Following a Trailblazer turnover, Salem's Lyndsey Martins would send a through pass up the seam to Moran.  Moran's first touch got past MCLA's Breese and then she calmly knocked it home in the open net to secure the Viking victory.  The goal was her 6th of the season.

Breese was outstanding for MCLA with 9 saves in defeat.  Salem's Pfefferle stopped both shots that were on goal for the Vikings.
