Gulls Race Past Vikings

SALEM, Mass. – Julia Matus (East Greenwich, R.I) and Chloe Waldron (Harwinton, Conn.) each notched hat-tricks as Endicott raced out to a 6-0 first half lead enroute to a 10-0 win over Salem State on Tuesday evening at Alumni Field. The Gulls raise their record to 5-2-2 while the Vikings slip to 1-8.

Matus opened the scoring in the third minute with a blast from 22 yards out, quickly giving the Gulls a 1-0 lead. Matus netted her second on a feed from just inside the box just over two minutes later. Madeline Mucher (Andover, Mass.) put in a loose ball off a corner for Endicott's third goal in the 11th minute.  

Matus scored again with a shot that deflected off the right post for her third goal in just under 18 minutes of play.  Waldron scored the Gulls' fifth goal, top-corner from 25 yards out on a shot that curled just below the crossbar.

Grace Jewett (Millis, Mass.) closed the scoring with a goal in the 35th minute, making the score 6-0 before halftime.

A corner set up Endicott's seventh goal early in the second half. Matus found Waldron in the box who then laced a shot past keeper Lily Pfefferle (St. Paul, Minn.) in the 56th minute.

Waldron earned Endicott's second hat-trick of the night with a blast from 28 yards out for an 8-0 lead in the 61st minute.  

Kelsey Hunter (Simi Valley, Cali.) netted the ninth goal of the night for the Gulls before Kayleigh McCabe (Westborough, Mass.) closed the scoring with a header off a corner attempt in the 88th minute.

Rosalina Caliri (East Greenwich, R.I.) picked up the win making two stops for Endicott while Emily Grote (Glastonbury, Conn.) made one save in relief. Cheyenne Frazier (Norwell, Mass.) took the loss making three saves before Lily Pfefferle (St. Paul, Minn.) stopped three shots after replacing Frazier in the 23rd minute of the first half.
