Fighting Scots Beat Vikings 5-0

Wenham, Mass. -- Gordon College scored three first half goals enroute to a 5-0 victory over Salem State. The Fighting Scots go to 6-2 on the season. The Vikings slide to 1-6.

The Scots drew first blood less than five minutes into the first half thanks to a perfectly placed Sarah Sierzenga corner kick to teammate McKenna Feller who headed the ball past Salem's keeper to give Gordon the early 1-0 lead.

Less than three minutes later, Calla Ashley slid the ball to Emily Rodriguez in stride as the senior booted the ball into the back of the net to extend the Scots' lead to two goals.

With less than 20 ticks on the clock until halftime, Abbey Engleraced to get the corner kick off where Alyssa Floyd drilled another header for the Scots to make it 3-0 in favor of the Scots before the break.

Getting on the board quickly yet again, Rodriguez sent a cross in from the left side, hitting teammate Kristi Di Rico for another perfectly placed header for Gordon's fourth tally of the night.

Finishing off the scoring for the Scots was Shelby Jones who buried a penalty kick into the right side netting to secure the Scots' eventual 5-0 victory.

Gordon posted 23 shots to the Vikings one. Starter Lily Pfefferle made seven saves for the Vikings.
