WPI Blanks Salem State 9-0

SALEM, Mass. – Salem State lost their first match of the year to the WPI Engineers Wednesday at Alumni Field. The Engineers scored three first half goals in cruising to a 9-0 victory. Olivia Toolin (Bedford, N.H.) added two goals in the win

Josie Kim (San Jose, Calif.) put WPI on the board in the 8^th minute before Grace Casey (Winchester, Mass.) converted a high-arcing shot from thirty yards out for a 2-0 WPI lead. Toolin laced a shot past goalie Cheyenne Frazier (Norwell, Mass.) for a 3-0 Engineers' lead with less than three minutes remaining in the first.

WPI dominated possession in the first, holding an 18-2 advantage in shots and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.

Ranya Basma (Shirley, Mass.) made it a 4-0 game in favor of WPI as the Engineers added five second half goals. Elizabeth Rocco (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.), Molly Vincent (Douglas, Mass.)  Hannah Wolfgang (Holliston, Mass.) and Toolion all recorded a goal while Lilly Proulx (New Boston, N.H.) contributed three assists.  

Lili Hellerman (Ashland, Mass.) made one stop in the win. Frazier was credited with 12 saves for Salem State.
