SALEM, Mass. – Salem State women's lacrosse welcomed the Nor'easters from the University of New England (UNE) for a non-conference bout. The Nor'easters' high-powered offense guided them to the commanding 17-4 victory to drop the Vikings to 1-6 on the season.

The Vikings were paced by Jenna Wells (Revere, Mass.) who recorded two goals while Kaia Hollingsworth (Methuen, Mass.) and Laura Young (Leominster, Mass.) each added one goal in the effort. Teammate, Aislinn Bennett (Milford, Mass.) grabbed game-highs in draw controls (6) and ground balls (5).

Sydney Balotin (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Abby McHallam (Medway, Mass.) both recorded an assist to go along with hat tricks while Megan Donovan dished out three assists while netting two goals in the victory for the Nor'easters.

Salem got on the board first after Hollingsworth rocketed a shot into the upper left corner to give her squad the 1-0 lead before Donovan matched her on the other side to make it a one-goal stalemate after three minutes. Less than a minute later Wells would reclaim the lead for the Vikings before the Nor'easters closed out the stanza with four unanswered goals from four separate players to take the 5-2 lead.

The duo of McHallam and Balotin commanded the second quarter as both would find the back of the net twice to send the game to the break with UNE ahead, 9-2.

The Nor'easters added two quick goals out of the half before Young stopped the bleeding with a goal of her own making it an 11-3 game with just over ten minutes remaining in the third. Three minutes later the Nor'easters would make it a ten-goal game (13-3) before Wells recorded her second goal of the game to bring Salem's deficit back to single-digits to enter the final quarter.

UNE would tack on three more goals before taking the 17-4 victory over Salem on the evening.

The Vikings look to bounce back this Saturday, March 23 when they welcome Husson University to Alumni Field for a non-conference matchup. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m..
