Wells Paces Vikings to 15-10 Victory

BOURNE, Mass. – This evening, Salem State women's lacrosse traveled to Bourne, Massachusetts to take on the Buccaneers of Massachusetts Maritime Academy in their last regular season game of the 2023 season. Jenna Wells (Revere, Mass.) exploded for a game-high six goals to lead the Vikings to the 15-10 MASCAC victory on the road.

For the Vikings, Wells recorded a game-high six goals while Taylor Sujko (Revere, Mass.) and Aislinn Bennett (Milford, Mass.) recorded hat tricks with Sujko dishing out two helpers in the victory.

How it Happened:

  • Over the opening 16 minutes of play Bennett scored the game's first three goals to give the Vikings the early 3-0 lead and solidify her first hat trick of the season.
  • Maritime notched their first goal of the game at the 12:10 mark in the second before Cassie Llewellyn (Fairfield, Conn.) matched Bennett with three goals of her own to give the Buccaneers the 4-3 edge going into the break.
  • Sujko brought the game to a four-goal stalemate 50 seconds into the half, which would spark the Vikings to scoring three unanswered goals to take the 7-4 advantage with 10:41 to play in the third. Each team would tack on two more goals of their own, carrying the Vikings into the final fifteen minutes with the three-goal tilt (9-6).
  • Maritime would score in the opening minute but four goals from Wells in the final stanza would spearhead the Vikings to the 15-10 victory over the Buccaneers.
