Nichols Hands Salem State 15-5 Defeat

SALEM, Mass. --  Hadley Houghton scored eight goals and added three assists to lead Nichols to a 15-5 victory over Salem State at Alumni Field on Thursday evening. Houghton tallied six first half goals as the Bison improve to 8-1 on the season. The Vikings dip to 4-6.

Taylor Sujko scored the first of her three goals just over three minutes into the opening period, giving Salem State an early 1-0 lead. However, Nichols closed the period on an 8-0 run with Houghton notching four of the scores and Sam Ahaesy adding a pair. Leading 8-1 in the second, the Bison made it 9-1 after Emma Patton found the back of the net. Mackenzie Schmink answered for Salem State, but two more goals from Houghton and one from Patton made it a 12-3 game in favor of Nichols at halftime.

Sujko scored twice in the third period, sandwiched around Houghton's fifth goal of the game, giving the Bison a 13-5 lead. Patton and Houghton accounted for the only scores in the fourth quarter as Nichols went on to win 15-5.  

Keri Tremblay made 13 saves in goal in the win while Carson Reidy stopped 10 shots in net for the Vikings. Nichols held a 29-24 advantage in shots. Savannah Scrodin led Salem State with five caused turnovers.
