Tigers Stop Vikings 14-3

SALEM, Mass. -- Halle Knutson and Olivia Okamoto scored three goals apiece as Occidental jumped out to a 6-1 first period lead, eroute to a 14-3 over Salem State on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. The Tigers improve to 3-5 on the season. The Vikings remain winless at 0-5.

Occidental scored three unanswered goals to open the game before Taylor Sujko scored for Salem State at 8:45 of the first. Okamoto scored twice in the final seven minutes of the opening period, sandwiched around a score from Emma Cho, as the Tigers built a five-goal lead. Cho and Knutson each added scores in the second period as part of a four-goal effort, allowing the Tigers to take a 10-1 lead into halftime. Occidental held a 27-10 advantage in shots, limiting the Vikings to four shots on goal.

Knutson added her third of the game at 8:33 of the third period before Sujko answered with her second goal for Salem State. However, Okamoto's third goal of the game gave the Tigers a comfortable 12-2 lead at the end of the third.

Ariel Shweiki and Ella Skoglund eached netted fourth period goals for Occidental as did Kaia Hollingsworth for the Vikings, making the final 14-3. 

Andie Angelacci eared the win in net for Occidental, making six saves in the first half. Grace Morrow made two stops for Occidental in the second half. Carson Reidy made 21 saves for Salem State. The Tigers posted a 38-16 advantage in shots while forcing 34 turnovers.
