Vikings Post 16-10 Win Over Gordon

SALEM, Mass. -- Taylor Sujko (Revere, Mass.) ripped home six goals and added two assists as Salem State posted a 16-10 win over Gordon on Monday evening at Alumni Field. The Vikings move to 4-6 on the year while the Fighting Scots slip to 6-6.

Megan Parthum (Marblehead, Mass.) – 2 goals, 1 assist, Suzanne Stefanik (Dalton, Mass.) – 2 goals, 3 assists, Mackenzie Schmink (Danvers, Mass.) – 2 goals, 1 assist, Kayla McKim (Wakefield, Mass.) – 1 goal, Jenna Wells (Revere, Mass.) – 1 goal and Madelynn Plourde (Bennington, N.H.) – 2 goals, all contributed in the win.

Abigail Mansfield (Starksboro, Vt.) – 4 goals, 1 assist, Becca Rhoda (Canandaigua, N.Y.) – 1 goal, Kaitlyn Mini (Malden, Mass.) – 2 goals, Hailey Beling (Cheshirte, Conn.) – 3 goals, 1 assist all scored for Gordon.

The Fighting Scots took a quick two-goal lead on back-to-back scores by Mansfield. Howeve, the Vikings closed the first quarter with three straight goals, including two by Parthum to take a 3-2 at the end of the first.

Salem State's unanswered goal streak reached six before Beling cut the deficit for the Fighting Scots with score to make it 6-3 in favor of the Vikings with 8:56 left in the second. Gordon added another score, but Salem State a goal by Stefanik and two by Sujko gave the Vikings a 9-5 lead at the half.

The two teams traded three goals apiece in the third, allowing the Vikings to maintain a four-goal lead heading into the fourth quarter. A goal by Beling drew Gordon to within three scores, 13-10 with 8:56 remaining, but the Vikings put the game away with three straight goals to win 16-10.

Kaia Hollingsworth (Methuen, Mass.) made eight saves in the win. Annabel Christenson (Scituate, Mass.) stopped nine shots for Gordon.
