Albertus Magnus Earns 3-2 Overtime Win Over Salem State

SALEM, Mass. – Molly Martin scored back-to-back power play goals, including the game-winner :54 seconds into overtime as Albertus Magnus defeated Salem State 3-2 on "Senior Night" at Rockett Arena on Saturday afternoon in a New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) contest. The Falcons (6-17-2, 4-13-1) swept the two-game set to earn the final playoff spot in the upcoming NEHC Post Season Tournament. The Vikings conclude their season 6-19 and 2-16 in conference.

Seniors Samantha Jaworski (Aspen, Colo.), Brooke Dineen (Houston, Texas), Téa Miles (Northfield, Vt.), Makayla McGrath (Saugus, Mass.), Lexi Warner (Littleton, Mass.), Cassandra Valentine (Westwood, Mass.) and Ava Calabria (Sydney, Australia) were honored for their commitment to the women's hockey program in a pre-game ceremony that featured Boston Bruins National Anthem singer Todd Angilly.

How it Happened:

  • Jodi Ostroski found Kayla Clark all alone in the slot, who netted the first goal of the game at 8:08 of the first.
  • Isabelle Besser then tied the game for Salem State with a power play goal at 15:17 of the opening period.
  • Lexi Warner set up Makayla McGrath for the go-ahead goal as Salem State pulled ahead, 2-1 at 7:07 of the third.
  • However, Molly Martin pulled the Falcons even as she converted on an Albertus Magnus power play attempt with less than 10:00 minutes to play in the final period.
  • Martin then scored the game-winner, as the Falcons took advantage of a power play opportunity in overtime to win 3-2.

  • Jess Trocchio (2-2) made 23 saves in the win.
  • Cassandra Valentine (1-2) made 23 saves in the loss.
