William Smith Defeats Salem State 4-0

GENEVA, N.Y. --  William Smith broke a scoreless tie with three goals in the second period enroute to a 4-0 win in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action on Friday evening at The Cooler. The Herons go to 4-8-1 and 4-3 in conference while the Vikings slip to 4-10 and 0-7.

How it Happened:

  • Colleen Quirk scored the first of her two goals at 3:05 of the second. 
  • Rowan Kennedy made it 2-0 just over two minutes later. 
  • Quirk added a power play goal to cap William Smith's third goal in a five a minute flurry.
  • Mackenzie O'Neil added a the Heron's second power play goal in the fourth to make the final 4-0. 

Inside the Numbers:

  • Erin Murray (3-7-1) stopped 14 shots to earn the shutout.
  • Cassandra Valentine (1-1) took the loss making 14 saves against three goals allowed.
  • Delaney Cox stopped 11-of-12 shots in relief of Valentine. 
  • Quirk finished with two goals and an assist.

Salem State will faceoff against the Herons again tomorrow at 4:00 pm.
