Salem State Blanks Anna Maria 2-0

WORCESTER, Mass. --  Salem State defeated Anna Maria 2-0 to pick up their first win of 2025 at Buffone Arena in Worcester on Tuesday evening. The Vikings received goals from Hailey Stanek and Halle Greenleaf while goalie Cassandra Valentine earned the shutout in her first career win. The Vikings up their record to 4-9 on the season while the AMCATS lose their fourth straight to go to 2-9.

How it Happened:

  • Stanek potted the first goal of the game off an assist from Mallory Albanese at 17:39 of the first.
  • Greenleaf later added an unassisted insurance goal midway through the third, scoring her team-leading fourth goal. 
  • Despite being outshot over the final two periods by Anna Maria, Valentine made the lead hold up as she turned away 26 shots.   

Inside the Numbers:

  • Valentine (1-0) stopped 33 shots in the win.
  • Stevie Levesque (1-3) made 23 saves for the AMCATS
  • The two teams combined were 0-for-9 on the power play.
