Softball Drops Two in Framingham

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Salem State softball spent Patriots Day on the road as they traveled to Framingham, Massachusetts to take on the Rams of Framingham State University. The Vikings dropped both games to the Rams to fall to 1-7 in MASCAC action.

GAME 1:

  • The Vikings started the game with a four-hit inning, highlighted by a Sydney Rodriguez (Brighton, Colo.) RBI single to right field to give her team the 1-0 tilt.
  • The Rams offense was held at bay in the bottom of the first but came alive in the second when Kelsey McGuill (East Longmeadow, Mass./ East Longmeadow) hit a home run to spark her team to a four hit, six run inning and flip the script in their favor (6-1).
  • Salem knocked at the door in the top of the fourth when they added four runs to their tally to come within one of the Rams but Framingham would further distance themselves in the bottom half with four runs of their own to take the 10-5 lead.
  • Framingham would notch their 13th run of the game on a wild pitch to end the game in the bottom of the sixth with the 13-5 victory over the Vikings.

GAME 2:

  • Once again, the Rams' bats came alive in the second inning when back-to-back doubles brought two of their runs home to go into the third inning with the 4-0 advantage.
  • The third inning proved to be a pitcher's duel before Framingham used two triples and a double in the fourth inning to double their lead (8-0).
  • Mackenzie DeSantis (Ridge, N.Y.) broke up the no-hitter in the top of the fifth inning with a double to center field, but she would be left on base and the Rams would take the 8-0 victory in the fifth to sweep the Vikings on the day.
