PORTLAND, Maine -- Salem State continued its winning ways, cruising to their fourth straight win with a 6-3 decision over Little East foe Southern Maine at Waynflete Tennis Complex on Tuesday. The Vikings raise their record to 4-5 and 2-2 in conference while the Huskies remain winless at 0-4 and 0-2 in the league.

Cory Cherico (Winthrop, Mass.) / Mark Wood (Lynn, Mass.) and Quentin Wilkins (Hamilton, Mass.) / Kevin Merino-Rivas (Billerica, Mass.) gave Salem State an early lead, winning first and second doubles respectively. Cherico / Wood won 8-1 over Cole Ouellette / Zach Howe while Wilkins / Merino-Rivas defeated Zach Desmarais / Azam Jiwa 8-2.  

The Vikings won 4-of-6 singles matches highlighted by Wilkins's 6-2, 6-0 win at first singles. Cherico earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory at second singles while Wood dispatched Howe, 6-4, 6-1 at third singles. Josh Gruber (Townsend, Mass.) picked up the fourth point with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-0 win at fifth singles against Ethan Rudnicki.
