Salem State Rolls to 3rd Straight Win
BEVERLY, Mass. -- Salem State rolled to their third straight victory and picked up their first Little East Conference victory with a 5-4 decision over VTSU Castleton on Saturday afternoon at Bass River Tennis Club. The Vikings go to 3-5 on the season and 1-2 in the league. The Spartans are now 4-3 and 0-3 in the LEC.
Quentin Wilkins picked up a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Khiem Nguyen at 1st singles and teamed with Kevin Merino-Rivas for an imortant 8-7 (7-1) decision at 2nd doubles allowing Salem State to take 2-of-3 doubles matches. Mark Wood clinched the match with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Jason Lipscomb at 3rd singles. Cory Cherico / Mark Wood won easily over Connor Davis / Ben Chilkott, 8-1 at 1st doubles. Cherico also won twice on the day, earning a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Connor Davis at 2nd singles.
