BEVERLY, Mass. -- Salem State opened the 2024 season with a 9-0 loss to Wentworth at the Bass River Tennis Club on Saturday. The Leopards improve to 4-5 on the season while the Vikings stand at 0-1.

Wentworth stormed through doubles play, winning twice by shutout as Manas Arya / Eric Doraci  at second doubles and Pranav Marwaha / Niko Rosich at third doubles each won 8-0. Daniel Gallegos / Rene Rodriguez defeated Quentin Wilkins / Cory Cherico, 8-2 at first doubles.     

The Leopards won all six singles matches in straight sets. Gallegos got past Wilkins, 7-5, 6-0 at first singles while Rodriguez defeated Cherico, 6-0, 6-1 at second singles. Marwaha earned a 6-1, 6-4 decision at third singles over Wood.
