DIII WEEK – SALEM STATE STUDENT-ATHLETE SUCCESS

As Salem State continues its celebration of Division III Week we celebrate the impact athletics and student-athletes have on campus and in the surrounding community. We are proud to highlight former student-athletes who displayed a great deal of leadership, community service, and campus involvement during their years competing as Vikings.

The life of a student-athlete is not what many may expect when they think of college sports. The demands of academics, athletics, part time jobs and leadership responsibilities are a reality that our student-athletes juggle each day. We are proud of the dedication of our teams and the successes they achieve in all arenas as they represent what it means to be a Viking.

Did you know…

So far this academic year over 100 student-athletes have been named to the MASCAC & Litte East All Academic Teams for earning a Dean's List (3.2 or higher) GPA during their athletic season?

This month SSU will celebrate 70 student-athletes who have earned a National Student-Athlete Day award for their success in academics and commitment to service?

Since joining the National Collegiate Athlete Honor Society (Chi Alpha Sigma) in 2016 SSU has inducted 200+ junior and senior student-athletes who have achieved a 3.4 or higher and excelled in leadership and service?

The Vikings have been recognized three times as National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators honorees for their community service?

And as their successes in the playing arena continue, we expect their academic success and service to the community to be their most valuable contribution to SSU!
