Suffolk Edges Salem State 1-0

EAST BOSTON, Mass. – Suffolk handed Salem State a tough 1-0 loss at James A. Sartori Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Matthew Belluardo's header in the 20th minute proved to be the difference as the Rams go to 2-0 on the season.

Suffolk held the Vikings (1-1) to just five shots on goal as both defenses proved to be stout. The Rams converted the only goal of the game when  Belluardo put home a pass from Tommy Handelsman while the Rams backline held Salem State without a shot on net in the first half.

Salem State struggled to find an offensive rhythm is the second half, managing just five shots on keeper Nathan Harlow, who finished with the shutout.  Jonathan Chasse stopped 7-of-8 shot in goal for Salem State, which took just one corner in the contest.
