Vikings Clip Fighting Scots 1-0

WENHAM, Mass. -- Salem State edged North Shore rival Gordon College 1-0 on Wednesday evening at the Brigham Complex. Dylan Senra's second half goal was the difference-maker as the Vikings have now won three-of-four to improve to 5-3-1 on the year. The Fighting Scots have lost six-of-eight after a season-opening win and go to 1-6-2.

Gordon held the shot advantage in the first 45 minutes of action (5-3), but neither side was able to capitalize keeping the score at 0-0 at the half. In the 58th minute, Salem State was awarded a penalty kick after a handball in the box. Senra stepped up to the line and sent it into the side netting to put his squad on top, 1-0.

The Scots did not let up and controlled possession throughout the remainder of regulation, but the Vikings held on for the narrow 1-0 win.

Gordon owned a 16-8 advantage in shots, including an 11-5 edge in the second half. Jonathan Chasse earned his first win in net for the Vikings, making six stops. Gunnar Lucuk made four saves in the loss for Gordon.
