Vikings and Corsairs play to 1-1 Draw

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – This afternoon, Salem State Men's Soccer traveled to Dartmouth, Massachusetts to take on the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. The Vikings played the Corsairs to a 1-1 draw to put them at 2-1-1 on the young season.

Twelve minutes into the game the Corsairs struck first when Cameron Aguiar (Dartmouth, Mass.) found teammate Lucas Passaro (Wellesley, Mass.) for the early goal to give his team the 1-0 tilt. Despite facing six shots from the Vikings offense throughout the remainder of the half, the Corsairs would carry the slight advantage into the second stanza.

The Vikings wasted no time answering back in the second half when senior, Dylan Senra (Dartmouth, Mass.), scored for the second time this season, to even the score at one apiece. The Vikings kept the pressure up, firing off 12 shots in the second half, to the Corsairs sole shot, but both teams were unable to find the back of the net to end the game at a 1-1 stalemate.

Salem State finished the game with a 20-6 lead in shots and a 6-2 advantage in corners.

The Vikings are back home Tuesday, September 13 when they welcome the Gulls of Endicott College for a 7:00p.m. start.
