Colonials Top Vikings 3-1

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Western Connecticut scored two first half goals to cruise to a 3-1 victory over Salem State on Sunday  afternoon at Shrewcraft Field on the second day of the MCLA Men's Soccer Tournament. The Colonials go to 3-0 on the year while the Vikings slip to 1-2.

Western Connecticut scored twice in the opening ten minutes, receiving goals from Ricardo Rodriguez (Danbury, Conn.) and Kent Eannarino (Brookfield, Conn.). Rodriguez nearly gave the Colonials a 3-0 lead moments later, but his shot rang off the post. 

Western Connecticut held a 7-4 advantage in shots on the first half.

The Colonials opened up a 3-0 lead when Masai Castillero (Norwalk, Conn.) found the back of the net in the 69th minute. Damon Deocleciano (Lowell, Mass.) prevented the shutout when he scored his second goal of the year in the 86th minute. Aimen Boumediene (Dracut, Mass.) and George Zuleta (Lowell, Mass.) were credited with the assists.

Daniel Szabo (Trumbull, Conn.) recorded eight saves en route to the win. Adal Barragan started in goal for the Vikings and made one save. Jake Howard (North Attleboro, Mass. ) and Leith Khan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) both saw action for Salem State in goal with Khan making four stops.
