2025 Men's Lacrosse Preview

2025 Men's Lacrosse Preview

SALEM, Mass. -- Steve Driscoll begins his fourth year at the helm of the Salem State men's lacrosse program in 2025. This season the team will be led by captains junior Cam Collins (Peabody, Mass.), senior Liam Bernardi (Medford, Mass.), senior Jack Seward-Dailey (Sheffield, Mass.), and junior Ryan Rice (Peabody, Mass.), who combined for 51 starts a season ago. The offense will return three of the top four scorers from 2024 as Collins (16g, 23a), sophomore Cameron Smith (Beverly, Mass.) – (19g, 9a) and junior Connor Vittands (Gloucester, Mass.) – (31g, 15a) look to build upon their point totals from a year ago.

Veterans, junior Gabe Laprade (Holland, Mass.), midfielders, junior Coleman Ballweg (Portland, Maine) Bernardi and Rice, along with defenseman Seward-Dailey form a solid midfield and defensive core for Salem State and will be backed by returning goalie junior Ryan Cohen (Bedford, Mass.).

Captain's Quotes

Jack Seward-Dailey – "I am really excited to see what our team can do this year. We finished up last season with a lot to build on, and the addition of lots of new faces with development from our younger guys has only increased that potential. It will be awesome to see this young team grow and hopefully make a postseason run in a competitive Little East Conference."

Cam Collins - "Our goal for this year is to enter conference play with a winning record and play competitive lacrosse every second of every game. We can play with any team in our conference, and we need to show others that."

2025 New Players to Watch

We are very excited about the transfer and freshmen classes this year. Transfer Joe Turpin (Nichols College) and Troy Cuddire (URI) will look to contribute right away. Having 13 freshmen this year is a great opportunity for our program and those players will see lots of minutes this year while getting acclimated to college lacrosse. Fisher Gadbois (Essex Tech), AJ Chiaradonna (Lynnfield HS), Grady Smith (Beverly HS), Landon Rice (Tantasqua HS), and Damian Biersteker (Essex Tech) will all also look to be contributing right away.

Coach's Take

"Our expectation is to compete every game and be competitive in the Little East Conference. We have an excellent non-conference schedule that will prepare the Vikings for the tough Little East Conference. We are expecting a few players to take a big leap in their development from their freshmen to sophomore seasons and are looking to have our newcomers be contributors right away."
