KEENE, N.H.- Jack Dubiel (Wakefield, Mass.), Bobby DeFeo (Wakefield, Mass.), Henry Frechette (Bennington, Vt.) and Connor Woods (Upton, Mass.) each recorded two goals apiece to give Keene State a 19-3 Little East Conference (LEC) victory over Salem State on Sunday evening at the Owl Athletic Complex. The Owls improve to 5-5, 4-0 while the Vikings drop to 4-9, 0-6.

How It Happened

  • In the game's opening moments, Keene State scored twice in quick succession. Rex Maccarini (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and Jack Ansart (West Springfield, Mass.) scored 30 seconds apart.
  • The Owls scored three more goals with Maccarini adding his second goal of the game. Unfortunately, Salem State found themselves trailing behind on the scoreboard by five points 5-0  at the 7:03 mark.
  • The Owls continued to dominate in the second with two more goals, including Maccariani scoring a hat-trick. However, the Vikings finally managed to get themselves on the scoreboard when Cameron Collins (Peabody, Mass.) scored a goal with an assist from Connor Vittands (Gloucester, Mass.) at the 8:14 mark. It didn't take long for the Owls to respond with another goal just 10 seconds later.
  • Keene State was a man up when they took advantage as Frechette scored at the 7:40 mark. Timothy Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) was on the right side of net as he scored at the 2:21 mark for the Vikings.
  • Dubiel of the Owls scored to make the score 13-2. As the game progressed, Keene State's offense continued to dominate, scoring twice more within a mere 35 seconds. The second goal was attributed to Woods, who already had one goal to his credit earlier in the evening.
  • The Owls were a man up when Dubiel scored from about 20 feet out and Keene State managed to score one more as they led 18-2 at the conclusion of the third period.
  • Both teams added one more goal on the scoreboard in the fourth.

NOTEWORTHY

  • Maccarini led the Owls by scoring a hat-trick and Dubiel, DeFeo, Frechette and Woods combined for eight of the Owls 19 goals. Gabe Pereira (Mashpee, Mass.) led the Owls with six groundballs and Jaheim Lancaster (Keene, N.H.) had two caused turnovers. Four different goalies were in net for the Owls.
  •  For Salem State the trio of Smith, Collins and Eddings each recorded a goal and Vittands had an assist. Collins had three groundballs while Mike Zarro (Peabody, Mass.) had two caused turnovers.
