UMass Boston Wins Against Salem State

BOSTON -- UMass Boston raced out to a 16-0 first half lead before winning 33-2 over Salem State on Saturday in a Little East Conference matchup. The Beacons go to 8-3 and 3-0 in the LEC while the Vikings slide to 1-9 and 0-3.

Connor Smith and Gavin Admirand led the attack for the Beacons with five goals and five assists and five goals and four assists respectively. Jacob Banks contributed three goals and five assists. Kyle Tammaro and Aidan Hollingsworth were the goal scorers for Salem State.

Sean Cullagh, Admirand, and Banks all produced a pair of scores in the opening period that saw UMass Boston take a 9-0 lead. Smiths's fourth goal of the game at 10:38 of the second made it a 15-0 game. Tammaro scored for Salem State, before the Beacons scored six in a row, including three by Admirand. Hollingsworth found the back of the net for the Vikings with :55 seconds remaining, but Max Hamilton-Jones connected for UMass Boston :10 seconds later to give th Beacons a 23-2 halftime lead. 

Mic Flynn scored twice as part of an eight-goal third period for UMass Boston. Owen Gallagher and David Oman, who scored a man-up goal, provided the only goals of the fourth period for the Beacons as they went on to win 33-2.

Otto Kirleis made two saves to earn the win in net in just over two periods of work. Trevor Gilligan stopped 26 shots for Salem State.
