MCLA Handles Salem State 9-4

SALEM, Mass. -- Boden Dock scored four goals and Nathan Haley added three scores as MCLA came back from an early deficit, scoring nine unanswered goals, to defeat Salem State 9-4 on Monday afternoon at Alumni Field. The Trailblazers improve to 3-2 while the Vikings go to 1-3.

Lake FlemingAidan Hollingsworth and Sean Roach Jr. all notched first period goals as Salem State built a 3-0 first period lead. However, Johnny Hebert found Dock for the first of their four connections on the afternoon to make the score 3-1. Later, Nathan Haley cut the deficit to 3-2 with 3:23 remaining in the opening period.

MCLA pulled away in the second period, outscoring the Vikings 3-0 to take a 5-3 lead into halftime. Dock notched two scores in the period, sandwiched around Hebert's first goal. The Trailblazers continued their run into the second half as Haley scored twice in the third to extend the lead to 7-3 after three periods. Dock and Hebert made it a 9-0 run in favor of the Trailblazers late in the fourth. Roach Jr. added his second goal with :38 seconds remaining, making the final 9-4.

John Hankel made 16 saves to earn the win. Trevor Gilligan  stopped 22-of-31 shots for the Vikings, who were outshot 43-34. James Julian had five caused turnovers for MCLA while Kyle Tammaro contributed six caused turnovers, five groundballs and an assist for Salem State.
