Salem State's Two Third Period Goals Topple MCLA

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. --  Landyn Greatorex notched two goals, including the game-winner and had an assist as Salem State came back to defeat MCLA 3-2 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) matchup on Saturday evening at Peter W. Foote Vietnam Veterans Memorial Rink. The Vikings are now 11-5 on the season and 7-3 in the MASCAC while the Trailblazers go to 2-14-1 and 2-7-1.    

How it Happened:

  • Landyn Greatorex accounted for the only scoring in the first as his power play goal gave Salem State a 1-0 lead.  
  • Christopher Gallaghe tied the score for MCLA with a power play goal at 3:06 of the second.
  • Luke Rhoss's unassisted tally just over a minute later gave the Traliblazers a 2-1 lead, which they carried into the third.
  • Keagan O'Donoghue re-tied the game with his seventh goal of the season 4:34 into the third.
  • Greatorex then connected for the eventual game-winner off an assist from James Tatro at 9:46 of the third.

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Will Nepveu (10-4) made 27 saves to pickup the win.
  • Mathew Gover (2-14-1) stopped 25 saves in the loss for the Trailblazers.   
  • James Tatro registered three assists in the game.
