AMCATS Top Vikings 5-1

SALEM, Mass. --  Guillaume Coulombe scored a pair of goals to propel Anna Maria to a 5-1 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) win over Salem State, snapping the Vikings' six-game win streak in the process, on Saturday afternoon at Rockett Arena. The AMCATS improve to 10-5 and 6-2 in the MASCAC while Salem State slips to 9-5 and 5-3 in conference.

How it Happened:

  • Coulombe accounted for the only scoring in the first as he beat goalie Will Nepveu for a 1-0 lead.
  • Coulombe added a power play score at 5:51 of the second, giving the AMCATS a 2-0 lead.
  • Raposo found an open net for a 3-0 Anna Maria advantage at 7:57 of the second.
  • Carson James put Salem State on the scoreboard with his second score of the year, cutting the deficit to 3-1.
  • Liam Wells added the AMCATS' third goal of the second period with a power play score at the 17:22 mark.
  • Later in the third, Braeden McKinnon added Anna Maria's second power play goal of the game with less than five minutes remaining to make the final 5-1.

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Cole Johnston (2-0) stopped 31 shots in the win.   
  • Nepveu (8-4) was credited with 32 saves in the loss.
  • McKinnon had a goal and assist for the AMCATS.
