Worcester State Defeats Salem State 5-2

SALEM, Mass. -- Martin Dlugolinsky and Brendan Ronan had a goal and an assist each as Worcester State defeated Salem State 5-2 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) match-up at Rockett Arena on Thursday. The Lancers sweep the season series (3-0) and improve to 12-11-1 and 11-5-1 in conference. The Vikings snap their four-game conference winning streak to go to 7-17 and 5-12 in the league.

Matt Kowal found Martin Dlugolinsky from behind the net for the game's first goal as Worcester State took a 1-0 lead with :45 seconds left in the first period. Back-to-back power-play goals by Nick Pennucci and Brendan Ronan increased the lead to 3-0 after two periods of play. 

David Cicak put Salem State on the board with a power-play goal with just :11 seconds remaining on the penalty as the Vikings' drew to within 3-1. Less than two minutes later, Erik Larsson forced a turnover at the blue line and Keagan O'Donoghue made the Lancers pay as Salem State cut the deficit to 3-2 at the two-minute mark. However, a 2-on-1 led to a goal by Henry Bruckner and Mikey Wilson added a power-play score as Worcester State quickly regained control to re-take a three-goal lead. 

Wyatt Friedlander made 35 saves to remain unbeaten on the year (4-0). Peter Barry (1-2) had 48 saves for the Vikings.
