SALEM, Mass. – Connecticut College exploded for five first period goals as the Camels coasted to an 8-2 win over Salem State in non-conference action on Tuesday at Rockett Arena. Seth Stadheim and Rocco Testa-Basi had a pair of goals each as Connecticut College ends an eight-game drought to improve to 3-15. The Vikings slip to 4-16.
Kei Yasuda opened the scoring for Connecticut College at the 3:26 mark of the opening period. Testa-Basi followed with another goal before the Camels scored on consecutive power-plays to take a 4-0 lead. Michael Dimascolo made it 5-0 at 18:22 ringing a shot off the crossbar and into the back of the net.
Zach Dill scored just :28 seconds into the second to cut the deficit to 5-1. Later, Erik Larsson put in a rebound on a Vikings' power-play to draw Salem State to within 5-2.
Brett Moccia ended any comeback attempt by Salem State, as he finished off a feed from Devan Newhook to push the lead to 6-2 in the third. Testa-Basi added his second score before Stadheim converted Connecticut College's third power-play goal of the evening in five opportunities.
Cam Fernandez stopped 22 shots to earn his second win (2-9). Tim Pesek ended the game in net for the Camels, making a save in the final 4:31. Peter Barry (1-1) took the loss, making 23 saves in the first period. Aaron Mercer replaced Barry in the second period and was credited with 25 saves.
