Lancers Triumph 6-2 Over Vikings

WORCESTER, MASS. -- Worcester State's Deiter Stange scored twice as the Lancers claimed a 6-2 victory over Salem State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) contest at the Fidelity Bank Ice Arena on Saturday. The Lancers move a game over .500 (9-8) and improve to 8-3 in the MASCAC while the Vikings slip to 3-14 and 1-10 in conference. 

Worcester State scored a pair of goals in the first and added three scores in the second to take a commanding 5-1 lead. Brigham Neuhold from Max Roth started the scoring at 13:09 of the first. Stange added a power-play goal to stake the Lancers to a 2-0 first period lead. Roth added a second power-play goal for Worcester State to open the second before Anders Grongstad added the fourth unanswered goal at the 11:55 mark. Zach Dill broke the shutout for Salem State, notching his team-leading 10th goal of the year. Mikey Wilson answered for Worcester State as the Lancers exited the second period with a 5-1 lead.

Skylar Miller added an unassisted goal early in the third, but Strange notched his second the game to push the lead back to four goals at 6-2.

Jakub Kubik, who made 23 saves, kept the Salem State offense in check the rest of the way. Hunter Thomas stopped 29 shots for the Vikings.
