SALEM, Mass. – Salem State field hockey hosted the Lancers from Worcester State University at Alumni Field for their final regular season game this afternoon. The Vikings scored first on senior day, but the Lancers responded with four unanswered goals to take the 4-1 victory over the Vikings.
How it Happened:
- After much of the opening action unfolded in the Vikings' defensive zone, Salem State turned the tide and dominated the final five minutes of the first quarter, where Grace Morey's (Danvers, Mass.) right corner strike in the 13th minute gave the Vikings the 1-0 edge after the opening stanza.
- Izzy Mosley (Middleborough, Mass.) kept her team's one-goal advantage alive with three saves before a Lancer's goal in the 26th minute leveled the game at one to head into the break.
- Natalya Morin (Barre, Mass.) shone in the second half, assisting her teammate in the 33rd minute to give the Lancers their first lead of the game. She followed up with another assist in the 45th minute, extending Worcester's lead to two goals. With under five minutes remaining, Morin fired a shot that slipped through Mosley's legs, finalizing the score at 4-1 and securing the victory for the Lancers.
Inside the Numbers:
- The Vikings closed the regular season with a 2-14 record to secure the six seed in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) field hockey playoffs.
- Grace Morey recorded her fifth goal of the season this afternoon, tying her with teammate Mikayla Talbot (Scarborough, Maine) for a team best.
- The Vikings honored seniors Alexia Hamilton (Burlington, Mass.) and Laura McVeigh (Attleboro, Mass.) before the game.

The sixth seeded Vikings await to see where they will travel next Tuesday for the MASCAC quarterfinals.
