Vikings Fall in Final Non-Conference Matchup

NASHUA, N.H.—Salem State field hockey took a break from conference play tonight when they traveled north to Nashua, New Hampshire for a matchup against the Raiders from Rivier University. The Raiders found the back of the net in every quarter to capture the 6-0 victory over the Vikings, dropping them to 2-8 on the season.

How it Happened:

  • The Raiders got off to a quick start, with Brianna Spinelli (Lynn, Mass.) scoring just three minutes into the action. Izzy Mosley (Middleborough, Mass.) then made four consecutive saves before Rivier managed to score their second goal of the first quarter.
  • A goal just seconds into the second frame extended the Raiders' lead to three before the Vikings would control the rest of the quarter, firing off seven shots and earning four penalty corners. However, despite the Vikings' best efforts, the Raiders' defense held strong to keep them scoreless and maintain their three-goal lead to go into the break.
  • Two goals in the third pushed the Raiders' lead to 5-0 before heading into the final 15 minutes of action, where they would cap off their performance with an additional goal in the 58th minute to secure the 6-0 victory over the Vikings.

Inside the Numbers:

  • The Vikings wrapped up their non-conference schedule with tonight's trip to New Hampshire.
