Falcons Soar Past Vikings

SALEM, Mass. -- Autumn Tibbetts had a goal and two assists and Fitchburg State used three first half scores to cruise to a 4-0 win over Salem State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) contest at Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon. Four different players scored for the Falcons, who are now 4-6 on the season and remain unbeaten in the MASCAC at 4-0. The Vikings slide to 2-7 and 0-4 in conference.   

How it Happened:

  • Sophia Yates notched the fist goal of the game for Fitchburg State just 57 seconds into the game.
  • Later, Alexis Raymond added another score for the Falcons, who exited the first quarter with a 2-0 lead.
  • Samantha Jones increased the lead to 3-0, rifling in a shot with less than five seconds remaining before halftime.   
  • Tibbetts ripped home a shot early in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring. 
 Inside the Numbers:
  • Fitchburg State dominated possession in the first half, holding a 21-0 advantage in shots and a 9-0 margin in corners and finished with a 33-1 edge in shots.. 
  • Jenna Morse picked up the win making one save while Izzy Mosley stopped 26 shots for Salem State.
  • Falcons midfielder Samantha Jones finished with a goal and an assist.
